Synopsis
Alex is stressed beyond belief, he just needs a little vacation away from his life, to get rebalanced. He didn't want to forget his whole life!
Reina loves her small town and after being left behind by the ones who wanted the big city life she's sworn off dating men that are just passing through.
On his way to his vacation house Alex has a serious accident. Now he can't remember who is, what his life was like before the accident or where he is even from. Reina's dad has decided that they need to show small town hospitality and let Alex stay with them. Reina, being a nurse, can help watch after Alex and Alex can help out around the ranch.
Spending time with Reina, Alex gets to see her at her best. He sees her be the strong caring soccer coach her team knows her to be. He also gets to see Reina be understandable and gentle while being a nurse/counselor to all the kids in the high school.
On the other side Reina gets to see Alex build himself back up. She gets to see Alex's vulnerability as he tells her the memories that start to come back. She also gets to see his selflessness as he helps out around the town wherever he can.
As feelings build, can Reina trust Alex to stay? Once all the memories are back, can Alex and Reina really work?
Review
If anyone is like me, the amnesia trope is really hard to get into. Madelyn though, she does an excellent job in sucking you in and making you want to stay with her characters.
Likes:
Alex is written to be a character that wants to be better. He does start off by forgetting who he is, but the story is a good steady pace of him remembering who is and building off of that. There isn’t any hiding of who he was, and lying to everyone around him, which I tend to dislike in other stories with this trope.
Reina is easily likable. She is someone who has a good heart and explains how she had to build it. She loves everyone, especially the kids on her soccer team and the ones who come to her at the school. Reina demonstrates it is possible to be strong and still be open and honest with your emotions.
Both Reina and Alex have their own insecurities, that has them struggling to build their relationship. I really like how this relationship is written, because they lean on and learn from each other to grow, but they do not rely on each other to continue that growth.
Medium Likes:
I am in between the third act breakup. The reason for this helps continue the story and settle a few questions. I also feel like it was unneeded to finish and complete the story. It did make me mad and tear up a little, I can say it is a good emotional line for the plot. I can not say whether or not I would want this removed from the storyline.
Dislikes:
Not many. I don’t even think I could put into words the things I dislike. There was just a feeling I couldn’t fully give this read 5 starts. I do hope you will give this book a try and who knows this might be your five-star read this year.

Memorable Quotes
"The warmth of Reina's hand ground me. I focus on it in the midst of the storm. She's steady. She's there. She's warmth and light. She's goodness and compassion."
" Did my mom give me the look that said," Hey, do you see this handsome man doing the dishes? You should totally fall in love with him and give me grandbabies." Yes. Yes she did."
"Seeing you coaching and cheering your team on was beautiful. Seeing your passion for these kids and the sport was enchanting. I don't know how any man hasn't fallen for you after watching you coach a soccer game. if you weren't surrounded by all of these teenagers, I'd probably kiss you right now."
